MEF Lends A Helping Hand to Parents & Students Seeking Affordable Summer Programs
Fun At-Home Courses Mixing Academics with Character Education
Chicago, IL: Midtown Educational Foundation (MEF), a Chicago non-profit dedicated to helping underserved students achieve academic and character excellence, has launched its at-home summer programs through its Midtown Center for boys (Midtown) and Metro Achievement Center for girls (Metro). These are COVID-19 ready versions of their popular summer offerings for 4th-12th graders. The four week programs will keep students on track academically with live remote instruction and project-based learning, while encouraging inner growth through character education and individual mentoring. To further assist families, Midtown and Metro have reduced the cost of their programs to a low $50 flat fee, and will offer a full refund to students who participate in at least 70% of the program and complete a final exit survey and assessment.
Programs will feature:
Project-based learning with one-on-one support from teachers
Short and engaging classes building strength in core subjects like Math, Science, and English Language Arts
Fun and diverse courses in fitness, art, drama, coding, robotics, dance, cooking, book club, journalism, and more.
Take-home kits with supplies to complete activities at home
Personal growth through individual mentoring and character development
Paid apprenticeship opportunities for high school students
Special events and support for parents to increase family connection
Programs run from July 6 - 31 and registration is open until June 19. For more information, please visit: www.midtown-metro.org/mefsummer2020.
