Golden State Warriors Have Golden Hearts
Earlier this spring, former Midtown student Zion received an incredible gift from United Airlines and Golden State Warriors player Shaun Livingston.
In May of 2017, Zion was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone) cancer. Zion completed several rounds of chemotherapy and underwent extensive surgery to amputate his right ankle and foot. We are so happy to hear that Zion is doing really well! He is on the road to recovery and recently accepted into Morehouse College!
Zion’s story truly resonated with Illinois native Shaun Livingston. Livingston suffered a terrible injury to his knee in 2007 and faced serious medical repercussions before regaining his ability to play at the professional level again. Check out the amazing video below that showcases Zion and Livingston’s new friendship.
“We want to share how God has blessed our family in spite of an unfortunate situation,” said Zion’s mom, Lovetta.
