Auxiliary Board Member Feature
Chuka Onugu had been involved with MEF for about one year as a volunteer tutor before joining the Auxiliary Board. He found out about Midtown through a friend and his involvement was reinforced when he learned that his company, GE Capital, is a major supporter. His initial impression was that MEF had a great group of young professionals that had a passion for helping develop the next generation--and he wanted to be a part of that. Also, he could tell that the kids loved being there as well.
As a board member, Chuka is always one of the first to volunteer to help run MEF AB events-- from selling raffle tickets, to working the registration table, to captaining a kickball team, his dedication to MEF & helping the kids is unwavering! He is looking forward to helping plan the Raffle & Rooftop Soiree in May, the AB's biggest fundraiser to support Midtown & Metro kids. The Auxiliary Board is a group of young professionals in Chicago who work as advocates for MEF in their personal & professional networks. Their three main goals are tutor recruitment, tutor retention & fundraising.
