CHICAGO—Midtown Educational Foundation (MEF), a Chicago nonprofit dedicated to helping underserved 4th-12th grade students achieve academic and character excellence, is launching registration for its 2021-22 school year programs on Thursday, July 15.  Students in grades 4-12 will return to fully in person activities at MEF’s Midtown Center for boys and Metro Achievement Center for girls starting September 27. Children will have access to one-on-one tutoring, mentoring, character education, test prep, as well as an array of electives and clubs. Parents will have their own activities and support to assist them in their role as primary educators. All of these programs will help families reverse the negative academic and social effects brought on by the past year’s pandemic and aid Chicago schools by continuing to support their students after the school day ends.

“Our model focuses on individual attention to both students and parents,” says Glenn Wilke, Executive Director of Midtown Educational Foundation. “Our success and the lessons we have learned over the past 55 years–especially this past year–uniquely equip us to help students thrive in and outside of the classroom.”

Features and benefits of the school year programs include:

  • Programs segmented into grade levels to meet specific challenges of each grade

  • One-on-one and group tutoring

  • Personal growth through individual mentoring and character development classes

  • High School and College Readiness featuring test prep., career and leadership seminars, and custom scholarship and application guidance for each family)

  • Optional Elective & Clubs, such as: art, dance, fitness, cooking, computer programming, and robotics

  • Parent Involvement - Interactive parent speaker and fitness events plus weekly student progress check-ins
