Individual Tutoring is Not Just for the Wealthy
Midtown Educational Foundation Closes the Gap on Educational Inequality with Heavy Emphasis on Individual Tutoring and Mentoring
CHICAGO - Midtown Educational Foundation (MEF) is taking its award-winning after-school enrichment programs remote this fall at its Midtown Center for boys and Metro Achievement Center for girls. MEF’s core model of promoting academics, virtues, individual mentoring, and parental engagement will still be intact, but the program times will be condensed and a greater focus will be placed on individual tutoring and mentoring to help each student and parent thrive during this unprecedented school year. With wealthier families able to take advantage of pandemic learning pods and/or high-priced private tutors, educational inequalities are being further exacerbated. MEF is trying to close this gap and give underserved students access to the same kind of individual academic and personal attention while also supporting teachers and parents who may not have the ability to provide such intensive one-on-one engagement throughout the day.
Features and benefits of the school year programs include:
100% live programming for students in grades 4-12.
Individual & group tutoring
Personal growth through individual mentoring and character development classes
High School and College Readiness featuring test prep., career and leadership seminars, and custom application guidance for each family)
Optional Elective & Clubs, such as: art, dance, fitness, cooking, and computer programming, and 3-D modeling).
Parents Involvement - Live parent speaker and fitness events plus frequent student progress check-ins.
The school year programs begin on September 28th and run through May. Registration is now open and applications will be accepted through October. For more information about the programs or becoming a volunteer tutor, please visit: www.midtown-metro.org.
