MEF Helps Low Income Students & Parents to Build Character During Crisis
Supplementing Remote Learning With Free Virtue-Building Lessons and Resources
Chicago, IL: Midtown Educational Foundation (MEF), a Chicago non-profit dedicated to helping underserved students achieve academic and character excellence, today announced a new remote learning campaign, MEF At Home. MEF At Home is a hub of online resources aimed at providing low-income families a free supplement to their school’s remote learning with virtue-based lessons, in both English and Spanish, to help combat the negative social and psychological effects of the pandemic.
MEF At Home will consist of:
A constantly updated website with curated content focused on character and academic development for students, as well as support resources for parents.
Ongoing challenges and lessons in virtue, which will be posted on MEF’s social media pages, to mobilize families into action and to develop an awareness of the need to serve and care for each other, while all at home 24/7.
Live character talks and group chats featuring MEF staff and volunteers as well as short pre-recorded video check-ins.
Select resources for both Spanish-speaking families as well as students without access to reliable internet or mobile devices.
Individual mentoring options for currently enrolled students.
MEF At Home will be offered for free starting April 6th. For more information, visit https://www.midtown-metro.org/athomeresources
