Kickball Success!
by Ashley Christensen, Auxiliary Board Member
Midtown Educational Foundation’s third annual kickball tournament took place on August 29, 2015 at Oz Park in Lincoln Park. Despite the rain, over 160 participants kicked, pitched, and caught all in the name of the kids! 15 teams competed for a shot at the trophy and AIM Consulting came out as the victors. After the games, teams headed to Four Farthings to celebrate the fun they’d had.
A special thank you goes out to the tournament sponsors:
Salesforce
AIM Consulting
CSN Chicago
Chicago Sun-Times
With these companies’ help, MEF raised over $11,000 for at-risk students. A special thanks goes out to Live to Support for lending MEF the kickballs and bases. Live to Support is Chicago’s premier charity-driven intramural sports league.
Another shout out goes to the Don Rafa food truck who supplied the players with delicious tacos and elotes, as well as the the White Sox and Cubs who donated tickets to the raffle.
Not only did this fun day serve as an opportunity to raise money for MEF, the Auxiliary Board hosted this event as an opportunity to recruit new tutors. Currently, Midtown and Metro need over 100 tutors this fall to work one-on-one with Chicago students.
Couldn’t make it the kickball tournament, but want to give back? Consider joining Midtown or Metro as a volunteer this school year! View photos from the event:
