Step Up for the Kids - Walkathon

The Midtown Educational Foundation Auxiliary Board is excited to announce Step Up 4 the Kids, a virtual walk-a-thon, benefitting the students of Midtown Center for boys and Metro Achievement Center for girls.  Join us in this week-long event starting next Monday, September 14, 2020, where we’ll use social media to log miles with friends and family, share MEF updates, call for new tutors, and celebrate the start of a new school year.  Participants with the most miles walked or the largest number of new recruits will receive a prize!

Quick Event Details:

  • When: Week of September 14 - September 20

  • Who: MEF staff, Aux Board members, and anyone that believes in the impact of mentoring and tutoring

  • What: Walking, educating peers, recruiting new tutors, and raising a few bucks!

  • Where: Anywhere!

  • Why: A safe, engaging way for friends of MEF use social media to raise awareness of Center needs as we begin school year programs  

  • How: Register and track your miles on our site. Take pictures or videos of you walking and tag us on your Instagram or Facebook stories or feeds (@midtownmetro)

We’ll send out daily updates regarding Walk-a-Thon standings and MEF updates throughout the week of the 14th.

Need some inspiration for your daily walks?

  • Hunt down MEF Posters placed around the city - stay tuned for hints on where they’re located!

  • Progressive Marathon: commit to walking 3.74 miles every day for 7 days

  • In honor of MEF’s 55th anniversary, can you walk 5.5 miles in one day?

  • Find a hiking trail!  Have you been to Starved Rock or Deer Grove Trail?

  • Walk to a new brunch spot in Logan Square or Wicker Park!

  • Find a walking buddy and share your favorite tutoring stories

  • Take your meeting outside!  Studies show that walking meetings increase creativity

  • Go geocaching
