Midtown CLUB EXCEL
Club Excel is for Midtown students who freely embrace Midtown’s mission in friendship with others who want the same and want to be challenged to live it more.
Both Middle School and High School Clubs meet on Saturdays from 1 to 5 PM at Midtown.
September 9, 2023 - May 18, 2024
THREE PILLARS of CLUB EXCEL:
(1) STUDY
Club Excel students want to learn advanced study skills that will enable them to succeed in any environment.
master the main idea quickly
take better notes faster
organize information to understand and remember
find areas of weakness and make them your strengths
learn to become interested in each subject by finding the truth contained therein
acquire the ability to focus
(2) SERVICE
Club Excel students want to grow in their spirit of service because they know that life is bigger than themselves.
Contribute more to the needs of your family
Help your friends to grow into better people
Regularly make visits to those in need
Design and complete a service project to contribute to the greater good of society
(3) FAITH
Club Excel students want to know more about their faith and how they can develop a deeper relationship with God.
discuss philosophical questions about how we can know that God is real and is close to us
receive classes and discuss questions about Catholic teaching and spiritual life
participate in times of prayer
regular time for confession and/or direction with a priest
opportunity to enrich your spiritual life on a retreat or pilgrimage
The Christian orientation of Midtown’s programs, including Club Excel, is entrusted to Opus Dei, a Personal Prelature of the Catholic Church (www.opusdei.org)
Mentoring
Club Excel students meet regularly with a mentor one-on-one to talk personally about the principles of the Club and how to put them into practice.
Parents
Club Excel offers parent workshops and Father-Son Activities, and mentors are readily available to meet with parents to discuss how Club Excel can better serve them and their sons.
Field Trips + Study Days
Club Excel plans fun and interesting field trips which broaden students’ experience and strengthen friendships among the group.
Study Days are scheduled to afford extra time for study - not only academics, but to afford more time for projects, prayer, sports, dinner and a movie followed by discussion.
