Tiffany Burkett - thenThe Best Lesson - Personal Example

“I had a cousin who went to Metro, so I started riding the bus from North Lawndale to the Center.  One reason I needed Metro was because I had just made an ‘F’ in math. My math tutor there gave me a lot of confidence in solving problems and the next quarter, I made an ‘A’. That’s my grandma’s favorite Metro story.

Tiffany Burkett - now

“When my mom got sick and then passed away, I got really close with my advisor there. So I think themost important character lesson I learned there was the people themselves—their own example. My advisor treated all of us like we were all her own kids.  “One of my Metro experiences was doing community service with the elderly. I really enjoyed it. I’d love to do speech therapy with the elderly some time.”
