Program Details:

The One-on-One program is for 4th, 5th and 6th grade boys with average (B-C) range grades, who are academically motivated, but are looking for the supplemental structure and support that will help them achieve.

College and professional male volunteers serve as role models and mentors for the boys.  They provide the additional academic support the students need and help them to set goals to improve in school and to grow in the virtues they are learning in the character education classes.

In addition to the one-on-one tutoring, the boys take part in character education classes that cover virtues such as honesty, respect, responsibility, and perseverance.  The sports period serves to provide an opportunity for enrichment and to work together and develop friendships with other boys their age.

There are also opportunities for the students to attend field trips scheduled throughout the semester, including activities such as Christmas caroling and trips to museums in the Chicago area.
