I started at Midtown in the summer of 2006. I was very excited and at the same time very nervous. I was a new student and had no friends that attended the program.
I was not very good at sports. Actually, I had no coordination or even a concept of how to play football, basketball, or soccer.
I will use the game of basketball as my example. I had no clue what double dribbling was, or rebounding. I was making passed to the wrong team. I remember being very frustrated and wanting to quit...but I did not give up.
I watched how nmy teammates practiced and made an effort to try and make baskets for my team. I would fall, even trip on my own feet, but I naver gave up.
At the end of the summer program, I was awarded the "Most Improved Player" medal at Midtown. I love sports now and I am very excited about the ones in high school that I will play." |
