Midtown is a supplementary education program which promotes the personal and educational development of Chicago inner-city boys from 4th - 12th grades with the collaboration of parents, teachers and volunteers. Midtown programs empower inner-city boys of average abilities to develop into upright, college-educated men who serve family and community. Midtown derives this inspiration from the social teachings of the Catholic Church and the Prelature of Opus Dei.
Advising in the Midtown Summer Program
Midtown Center is looking for mature college men who have an interest in working with young people and the capacity to be strong role models as advisors for young men.
Advisors play a critical part in the success of Midtowns summer program. The full-time responsibility of the advisor is to meet individually each week with approximately 15 to 20 students and advise them in matters of academics and personal growth. By developing friendships with his students, the advisor encourages them to improve not only their approach to studying, but also their character, sportsmanship, and willingness to serve others, especially family and friends.
